Outwardly, the 2021 BMW R 1250 GS-40 Years GS Edition shares its purpose-driven appearance with its GS stablemates. That means off-road capability coupled with on-road performance. A rugged, two-section frame and stressed-member engine contribute to legendary GS stability, and long-travel suspension confirms the bike’s off-road aspirations. The adaptive LED headlight tilts into curves to help light up those nighttime adventures and contributes to the unmistakable R 1250 GS appearance. The full-color, 6-5-inch TFT dash helps riders navigate between ride modes and traction control levels, and LED turn signals to grab attention. In 40 Years GS Edition trim, the R 1250 GS gets Black Metallic Storm to paint with yellow rally seat, and Cross Spoke wheels. Other yellow accents include decals, handguards, windscreen, and a golden-hued handlebar. Options like heated seat and cruise control increase comfort, and available Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment and extra ride modes are just some of the performance-driven choices.
The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS-40 Years GS Edition shares its thundering, 1,254 cc boxer opposing-twin engine with the rest of its stablemates. That means an impressive 136 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and 105 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,250 rpm. A 5-gallon fuel tank ensures plenty of range, and a modern electronics suite provides intuitive and complete control over the motorcycle. Riders may select three ride modes, each with its fueling: Road, Rain, or Eco. The new Eco mode reduces both power and emissions, increasing fuel mileage correspondingly. A-Pro Riding option, which adds four more ride modes, is available. The Telelever front suspension and single-sided rear swingarm provide a solid, capable, and smooth ride.
