The new M 1000 XR is an ultra-sporty motorcycle with capabilities that match the demands of long-distance journeys. BMW Motorrad has engineered the new BMW M 1000 XR to meet the highest dynamic demands of long-distance touring to racing and country roads. The M 1000 XR makes the third M model from BMW Motorrad to celebrate its debut, following the N 1000 R roadster and M 1000 RR superbike.
In its centenary year, BMW Motorrad applied the dynamic philosophy of the world’s most powerful letter to the new M XR. M represents worldwide racing success and the fascination with high-performance BMW models, and it is produced specifically for customers with extremely high demand for exclusivity, individuality, and performance.
The new long-distance sports motorcycle M 1000 XR features a powerful, modified, water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine based on the RR engine. It offers a peak power of 148 kW (201 horsepower) @12,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 113 Nm reached at 11,000 rpm and a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm.
A shorter secondary gear ratio provides increased real wheel pulling power in all gears using a sprocket with 47 teeth. Similarly, the gear ratio of the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears of the BMW M 1000 XR is now shorter compared to previous models. As a result, there is better traction at the rear wheel, pulling power, and acceleration, ensuring maximum riding pleasure on race tracks and country roads.
BMW Motorrad prioritizes aerodynamics as well as drive and suspension technology in developing the M 1000 XR. This motorcycle has winglets in its front side panels that help to achieve faster lap times on the race track and excellent riding stability at high speeds. The winglets provide improved front wheel load due to the generated aerodynamic downforce.
